Alec Stewart OBE

Where would English cricket be without David English and the Bunburys?  As I write this article we are six days away from the start of our defence of The Ashes “down under” and by the time you read this we will all know if it was a successful trip or not.  What we do all know is that many of the players representing England in the series have played in the Bunbury Festival as promising, talented young cricketers who have developed into International class players.

The hopes of many at this years Bunbury Festival will be to follow in the footsteps of the likes of Andrew Flintoff and Ian Bell and I wish them all the very best in fulfilling their dreams.  With talent, dedication, hard work and the desire to achieve, anything is possible and if the lads are prepared to listen, learn and put in the “hard yards” then in a few years, they too could be taking on the Aussies in an Ashes battle.

Cricket is a great game and at whatever level it is played there is a chance for everyone to enjoy the challenges and successes that come with it.

With David English and The Bunbury’s doing a fantastic job in helping English youth cricket the future of the game in England is looking very healthy.

Good luck to all the lads at the Festival and to all the many players of varying standards that will be representing The Bunbury X1’s around the country raising monies for so many Charities and for the development of the game.

Keep up the good work.
