Family is important in any ones life and the Botham family is no different to any one else.

Liam started to play representative cricket in the mid 80’s, at the same time as Ian was playing for his country It was so difficult for him to attend Liam’s games due to his schedule, coupled with the fact that his presence at these games, at times. Had a detrimental effect on Liam increasing the pressure on a young boy eager to prove himself in constant limelight.

This is when family and close friends come in to there own. Liam is the first to admit that he may have not done so well in professional sport without the unerring support of his Gran and Gramps who travelled hundreds of miles taking him to venues all over the country and the encouragement of close friends, Geoff Taylor and David English in particular.

David or the ‘Loon” as we call him has been so much a part of our lives and we include him as part of our family. His interest in all of our children’s lives and progress is second to none and we couldn’t have had a better friend and supporter.
