Lee Dixon
Arsenal FC and England

Lee joined in at Blenheim Palace. I had to bat with him after Damien D’oliveira and David Ripley had given us a good start. Running between the wickets with Lee was akin to Carl Lewis meeting Mr Wobbly! Like all footballers, he moves like a hare has an uncanny eye for the ball good hand/eye co-ordination and an excellent natural style.

Having Wrighty and Lee in the same team along with Dave Beasant, Andy Sinton and Gary Lineker gave the team speed and an all round magical quality. “Interesting team skip,” he told me “playing for an 11 of 27 players, seven blokes fielding at cover point drinking red wine and Samantha Fox opening the bowling. Just doesn’t seem to happen at Highbury!”

Deservedly enjoyed a wonderful testimonial from Arsenal in 1999.
