Chris Cairns
New Zealand

I knew his father, Lance and in truth, Chris is a chip off the old block. Last October, I watched the ICC World Cup from Kenya. It was an enthralling competition which New Zealand won beating India in the final.

Before the game, "Cairns" was doubtful to play because of a dodgy knee. But typically, he bit the bullet and when Tendulkar and Gangully were blasting the New Zealand opening attack to all parts.

He came on to bowl and immediately stemmed the run flow. He then batted, scored 100 not out and helped New Zealand become One Day World Champions.
"Cairnsey" bats with enormous power based on a sound and stylish technique. He bowls quickly with great intelligence.

I asked him to play in Macca's game. No problem smiled the proud Kiwi. "I wouldn't miss it for the world."
